mellow - Visited in the summer - friendly people - no localisms along this stretch, but not much to be local about. We came between swells so missed out on decent surf. Florencia Bay was sheltered from strong west wind. Local said it doesn't break that often, but channels and bays get cranking during big swells and that is when localism starts to appear. A very mellow and cool vibe. Cox Bay was full of first time surfers - no need to buy a park pass to park/surf. The true Long Beach spots require a park pass. Plenty of board rentals - almost all doyle or nsp boards. I didn't see any glassed boards to be rented, but they might exist.

Locals suck..... sometimes. - What is all this local stuff about? It's Van island not Hawii. I even read a coment where some ass calls someone a kook. Grow up and realize that the ocean is for everyone to enjoy.

this place sucks - long beach is just another shity beach break that your really lucky if it's good so screw off and leave locals alone. o and there's really gnarly seals and frigid waters

pay to park - just to let everyone know... it's $7 per person to park here. Not to bad as the waves are fun to paddle in.

A good spot to go is chestermans... get in early to get a parking spot on the weekends and enjoy the waves... great for longboarding.

itsa long - hola this beach is long... maybe thats why they named it long beach!
well anyway this spot is fun to surf and on the in to the beach there is a trail with a funny tree

this is the spot!! - if you just want to have fun and learn then definately go here. at long beach you dont have to worry about locals and the waves are not as scary as some of the other beaches here. everyone here just wants to party and surf and have a good time.

- Uclulet is an amzing place to stay and surf... all sand beaches and breaks. tofino is too tourist. great locals and great surf shops... but bring your winter wet suit because the water is freezing and the weather is usually overcast

Total waste!! - Not impressed...how anyone can learn there is a wonder. How anyone can surf is wishful thinking. Will never go back. Total pathetic. As usual....overblown Canadian logic!!

South swell coming from way far - See message left for Renfrew, altho it's for all the core surfers up there. Hope you guys get a touch of the south coming your way. Baja is brewing, but all the kooks from La and SD have arrived.
