In Pacific Rim National Park.
Going North on Highway 1 coming from Victoria, follow the signs towards Nanaimo and Parksville. The Trans Canada Highway follows Highway 19 just outside of Nanaimo. Just before Parksville you turn onto Highway 4, and follow the signs toward Port Alberni.
Follow the road through Port Alberni, to the bottom of the hill. Turn right and still follow Highway 4. Check your gas now, the last gas station is just outside of Port Alberni on the road to Tofino. You're on your way to Clayoquot Sound and the Village of Tofino.
At the end of the scenic and winding highway from Port Alberni you'll reach the "junction" - the road to Tofino leads to the right through Pacific Rim National Park.

Tofino is on the west coast of Vancouver Island, so if you are driving, B.C. Ferries is a MUST.
And the ferries get busy at times, so keep this in mind.
If you are travelling during a long weekend or during the high season2 sailing waits (approximately 3 hours) are not unusual so, do consider FERRY RESERVATIONS.
Surf pros Sepp and Raph Bruhwiler http://www.bruhwilersurf.com/ have a surf camp on Long Beach and area. Jeremy Koreski, renowned local photographer, http://www.jeremykoreski.com/ has amazing shots of surfing in and around the area.
Dumps at low tide.
Cox Bay is ofter bigger in the summer, so check it too.
If it's too big an hard to get out try Chesterman's beach.

Atmosphère
Can be lots of beginners (renters) in the summer but there's lots of room.

Général
A very nice wave when it's clean.14 km of pure sand! I heard of a guy who found a rock once and kept it because it was such a rare find. Nothing there to sting or bite you, and the locals are super friendly. This beach is so huge it just couldn't be crowded. There are some excellent surf schools in the area as well (Inner Rhythm in Uclulet is where I learned, and they are hightly recommended). The beach is backed by astoundingly gorgeous temperate rain forest and the water couldn't be cleaner. It is a little cold though, so pack your 5-4 and booties. For more advanced surfers try one of the bays to the East, Storm Surf Shop in Tofino can give you directions.

mellow - Visited in the summer - friendly people - no localisms along this stretch, but not much to be local about. We came between swells so missed out on decent surf. Florencia Bay was sheltered from strong west wind. Local said it doesn't break that often, but channels and bays get cranking during big swells and that is when localism starts to appear. A very mellow and cool vibe. Cox Bay was full of first time surfers - no need to buy a park pass to park/surf. The true Long Beach spots require a park pass. Plenty of board rentals - almost all doyle or nsp boards. I didn't see any glassed boards to be rented, but they might exist.
