tips - Local people are very friendly and good vibes. The currents are really strong but not dangerous. Make sure you have a good physical condition before you go because you have to paddle much. When the swell is coming from the south and large, go to chicama that you will not regret it

boards and suits - Of course you don't need a suit during the summer here, but both board rentals and suits are quite cheap here so you don't need to bring your own unless it's a really long trip.

Punta Huanchaco best time to go - Hey guys,

I will be going to Peru in February for 3-6 months. I will be living in Trujillo so punta Huanchaco will probably my best bet within biking distance.

Since I have to accept a certain schedule in advance it would be great to know when the Point works best. I can get free time either in the morning, around noon or in the evening. It would be great if any of you had any idea knows where to find a tide calandar online etc.

And who is there at that time for a session?

Stolen wetsuit discovered in surfshop - We found two wetsuits which were stolen in chicama in the huanchaco surfshop "wave". we went to the police and finally got back one of the wetsuits which was a rare french brand that doesnt exist in south america. at night one of the owners looked for us in the streets and got kind of aggressive when finding us.
Ill never go back there as the surf wasnt good either...

surfing class - Hi, I would like to take surfing lessons in Huanchaco, but it´s really hard to find on the internet. What about ´un lugar´? Is there a way to get in contact with it? Or any other surfing school? Thanks!

- Such a beautiful place with one of the longest left handers ive ever surfed! Wouldnt be surprised if i move here one day. No need to book in advance, plenty of great places to stay. I would go with a board, they sometimes have boards for sale at hostel my friend, but are pretty shitty...

What to Bring? - I am going to Huanchaco/Chicama to surf for a week in August 2008. Can I purchase surf boards in Huanchaco? I am also very tall and big 6'6" 225 lbs. Can I find a place to stay when I arrive or should I try to reserve in advance? Finally, can you hire a ride to Chicama? Thanks for your help!
