 Informations supplémentaires

Seaman Spit In Birch Bay State Park breaks 15-20 times a year or more. While it's difficult to predict and requires good winds out of the NW, W or SW for swell it's a fun small wave with a nice shape that holds for 75-100 yards down the shoreline in the state park. Make sure you buy a parking pass when parking at the point in the State Park or you'll get a ticket.

Atmosphère

If you're lucky enough to see this breaking, grab your board and get in the water quick. Seaman Spit is best suited to SUP surfing on most days and can be prone surfed on larger days. Look for winds out of the NW on an incoming tide. There's a Birch Bay webcam pointed at the point in the State Park and this is the best way to see if there are any waves breaking. Usually only 1-2 people will be at this spot, but on good days there may be a mix of surfers, SUP surfers, kayaks, and surf skis but everyone gets along.

Général

This break continues to remain ridden by only a few people in the know in NW Washington. Originally it was though to only break once to twice a year but over time we've found it breaks around 15-20 times a year or more.

De Kolohe Kai , 15-05-2012

Good winter and spring strong winds - Been enough high winds out of the NW this winter and spring that I surfed out here 4 times in the last couple of months. Not bad for inland surfing with no exposure to the open ocean.

De Anonymous , 29-09-2009

Two sessions in one week at the spot - Ankle biters 9/26/09 - but surfable.

De Big Kahuna , 24-09-2009

Another day of surfing in Bellingham - Had surfable 1-2 foot peelers today. Went out on my lunch break and got my longest ride yet at this spot, caught a wave off the point and surfed 200 feet down the north side. Small waves but the weather was great.
