Atmosphère

Very Nice break since the dredge project finished. Locals nice but don't be an ass - a lot of locals and tourists; mix of personalities, of course. Respect the locals and you get respect back. The rip pulls hard at times. Sometimes it breaks a few beaches down. Avoid the inlet.

EPIC SPOT if the swell and wind is just right! - epic spot...if the whole island is pumping, this place will get the swell the best. the lineup is also pretty empty cause everyone thinks that the spot sucks cuz it only gets good when the swell is right. its hidden by any winds coming from the north cuz its hidden in front of a bunch of big hotels and rock walls so if the rest of the island is blown out, you can get nice glassy waves here for the most part. really the only good swell direction is a westerly with a little bit more southern direction in it. the reason for this is cuz the spot is set up at an angle and there is a jetty that protrudes outward which basically blocks off any northern swells. if the wind and the swell is right, you can get a really, really nice long ride (100-250feet) because of the way the beach bends into the inlet. not to mention some nice juicy barrels if the swell is about head high!!overall i would rate this spot a 7 out of 10 due to how good it can get and the workability on the wave, which is awesome for a place like newjersey
