This is a hard core surf trip (for texas) Got Padre Island seashore, hit the beach and take a right-put the truck in 4WD-Get ready for a bumpy, hell ride down-65 miles south-all beach. Sand gets softer and more wash-outs the farther south you go. bring all supplies, water, extra gas, etc. No one will be there. 4WD a must.

 Informations supplémentaires

This is one of the best spots in Texas. the north jetty has a slight curve which creates a cove like beach, and blocks the south prevailing wind and creates long powerful waves. The other side of the jetty (pasr the channel) can hold big NE swells and can get really good and big-super long lefts. But the right is the best, can actually look like a point break.

Général

This spot is awesome, but it is a crazy drive down there, bring all supplies and extra fins or another board just in case. If there is swell, it will be bigger and better in Mansfield. Guaranteed!

Port Mansfield - Great Spot - Surfers Beware - Work with law enforcement and military; Drug Cartels are now using Padre Island National Seashore for smuggling illegal aliens and narcotics. Those wacked out locals you ran into may be working for the DTO's as scouts/lookouts or just hassling you to protect the loads; the illegals will rob you and the coyotes that are guiding them may be armed - especially if they are toting narcotics in their backpacks; my advice - never surf alone at Mansfield - there is safety in numbers - they do not want witnesses - Do not trust anyone walking up to you or your vehicle - if you see someone on a bike - or someone paddling across the channel in a rubber raft - get the hell out of there - that is their modus operandi. I have surfed Australia, Hawaii, Vietnam, California, and all over Texas - Port Mansfield is fun but not safe anymore thanks to the Narco-Terrorists that are now using the beach to transport their contraband from the RGV up to Corpus Christi; second point - if you observe some people off loading a raft or boat on shore into vehicles (you may see a shrimp boat off shore) - run for your life - that is the Gulf Cartel, they will kill you, and they are heavily armed - Today a large number of these fishing/shrimp vessels are now operated with crews with prior convictions for smuggling narcotics and illegal aliens - as well as bonafide gang bangers like MS-13. When in doubt - get the fuck out of there; report anything out of the ordinary on what you see to DPS,the Park Rangers, Texas Highway Patrol, the Kleberg County Sheriff's Office, Border Patrol, or someone in law enforcement. By the way that shaper in CC who makes boards - I own one of his long boards which was made for a big guy like me with a lot of old school touches and new school "shark cammo" - I recommend him to you highly! Be safe! I wish you fair winds and following seas - and may your long board draw!

Dallas - Hey Dallas my friend and I surfed with you and your lady about a month ago or so. I remember you said that you were suprised to see heads out when you got there. I was suprised to not see you there right after Ike passed lots of fun waves to be had and a close encounter with a pretty sizable shark. Our paths will cross again for that place will be frequented by Chris and I since he got his boat running.

This spot is really good actually - I used to surf this spot very consistantly few years back. I have seen this place GO OFF numerous times. Back before all those large hurricanes fucked it all up, on a good solid SE swell with more east in it would light up that break. Caught that place many times WELL overhead and peeling for 200+ yards, easy mellow outside drop to a top to bottom drainer on the inside. We chased many storm swells down there in my 4x4 silver Jeep. The guy Mike you mentioned below, I think he may be the guy that owns Wind and Wave in CC if Im thinking right. This place is hardcore and the trip is even more. You gotta time the tides right or its a 4 hour drive. This spot is very fickle and have gotten skunked a few times, but those gem days def made up for it. But if the surf sucks, BEST fishing on the gulf coast, used to catch 3-4 foot tarpon and 50"+ bull reds there. Oh yeah, they dont call that beach "bull shark beach" for nothing, check the spray paint sign on the beached barrel about 45 miles down! haha
