 Informations supplémentaires

Boat & Airplane access only. One of the most secretive spots in the entire Gulf of Mexico due to location and because those in the know want to keep the Chaneleurs to themselves. Beautiful white beaches akin to Destin and blue water regularly moves into the area for beautiful un Louisiana like water clarity. In many areas of the chain the water goes from 20 to 30 ft straight onto a 2 to 3 ft sandbar which makes for amazing waves when the swells are pumping the Gulf. Normally though during the summer the wave height is typically 1 to 3 ft swells.

Bring a fishing rod but remember that you can't put up a tent site on the islands because its a national park and bird sanctuary.

Bring insect repellant and beware of sharks, especially the Bull Sharks in the area.

Atmosphère

The most secluded surfing spot in the Northern Gulf of Mexico due to its location. Make sure you watch the weather and check the swell forcast before you make the long journey. This is nothing like Fourchon Beach, Grand Isle Pier or Jetty area, Holly Beach, or Miss River's Southwest Pass jetty. The waves can be very large and if you are injured remember that you are miles from the nearest hospital.

Chandeleur Island - There technically isn't much left of Chandeleur Island. What made this place surfable has been hit a few times by hurricanes to where now the largest of waves can be rare. Also the beach unfortunately is disappearing at an alarming rate. Even hurricane (though didn't hit it head on) made a significant strike to its coast. I hope i'm wrong but, i don't feel this beautiful gem of the gulf coast is easily surfable anymore :(

I'm on it. - Some of you are right. This is not one break but potentially dozens that will work in some varying conditions. Deep water masses are forced onto shevles througout the Island chain. It will be hard to get out there in anything over 15-20 knots, but it is not neccessary. Tide plays a large role in this place producing waves, according to charter captains I've talked to. They also said long rides and lots of the wrong type of company(BULLS AND TIGERS). I will post pictures after my 1st trip. PS- I've studied this place on Google earth. Even on a flatter day... it breaks. I'll post pictures after my first trip. Probably within a month. I'm sick of not knowing. Any body with info or interest please contact me.
