On and Off - I grew up surfing in this town when S. beach was mostly locals and occasional passer-by's. Now, you drive by on the weekend and see the whole stretch of beach littered with inland oregon surfers. Most of these guys are pretty nice, though. But if your lucky, south beach has its magical moments when everything comes together, and you can score some fast, and sometimes big reelers. I scored big time winter 07 visiting the family for Xmas. Big 8-10 ft lefts breaking way off the outter sand bar. Me, my homie, and another ol' timer charging, while all the other surfers chilled in the kiddy section at the very north end of the beach.. But, for the most part, your racing the close-outs when you paddle out at S. Beach.
