When you see San Simeon doing its thing... its a beautiful thing. A large point facing SE - ESE which is a blessing and a curse... Meaning that anything from NE to NW is offshore, and that W blows from the cliffs into the white wash to the face, having a side offshore affect that makes the wave better if anything.
The first spot is the reefy piece of land at the very top of the point... a big wave break on large NW and West swells.... there is a picture of it below.
Over time the sand that has washed past the cove at the very top of the point has collected at the beginning of the cove and made a nice hollow cove wave only on BIG S-SE hurricane swells. Since it breaks so infrequently the sand has not spread further down the rest of the now currently deepwater point to make a longer and better wave...
