Kneeboarders - To the troglodyte Anonymous 1/20/09's comment I find to be very offensive about the kneeboarders at Garbage (including the entire kneeboarding community) as I am a kneeboarder myself; apparently you do not like these surfers more than likely they out positioned and out surfed you that day maybe you were out there or maybe not. Face it, they were the better surfers (and better athletes) that day and at that break perhaps and you did not like it. Always remember there is always someone cleverer than yourself.

No need to call us c&*ks%!ckers I believe a lot of the kneeboarders I know are straight and not interested in doing that-you are so ill-informed, uneducated and unevolved. You seem to show a good deal of jealousy about kneeboarders as you like to look down at us as we kneel to ride a surf board as well you should not! If it was easy everyone would be doing it.

I agree with Anonymous 1/30/09 the comment to you. If you have any class and dignity about yourself, you really ought to apologize to the kneeboard community of your offensive comments toward us.

North vs South Garb - I think North is better nowdays.. i remember my dad telling me stories about how the south garbage bowl used to break epic in the 70's but i find North garb to be a better spot for my shortboard these days.. on a nice day you can hook up an outside set and catch the double up section 2-3 times almost all the way to the inside and get atleast 10-15 turns out of the wave.. There is NO sharks here.. please. ive never even seen a seal there in my life.. ive been out in the gnarliest conditions by myself and not been even the least bit worried.. the only place that gives me the creeps in san diego is Tijuana Sloughs on the outside and Ralphs.. BIG BIG seals and Dolphins in those spots :)

1st time surf - I surfed the spot right in front of the stairs on the rock for the first time. First time ever surfed Sunset Cliffs. It was a foot or two over head and calm winds. The take off was slow but if you stalled and got to the inside reef it lined up and got faster. Well point to this story is I hear all this stuff about the local vibe, Didn't see that. There was this one older local dude killing it on the bomb sets smacking the lip on what looked like a 6'6" thruster. I made a point to stay out of his way. I caught a bunch of fun waves that morning and on my belly ride in I saw the same old dude behind me. Getting out of the water he smiled at me and said " Wow, you were really ripping out there!" I told him he did the same. His answer to that was "Well, I guess we are just a couple of ponies amongst all the horse shit out there, ha ha ha." Moral of the story is if you go to surf here and get the evil eye from the locals, maybe you are a kook who drops in on people? Or maybe I had a good day and will have to see what happens next time?
