by the way - this is not a surf spot. It's a pocket on the rapids. Kayakers use it. It's not a breaking wave , you should see it in early spring, it's barely even a ripple

the ollie - I saw a guy on you tube popping a little ollie on his board on this wave and boy was it ever gay. That guy should check out some real high performance surfing. Check anything Dane Reynolds does, Ozzie wright or Shawn Barney Barron. That's real air catching shit. The ollie is great on a skateboard down some steps or onto a bench. The french dude who calls himself "monkey" and ollies on river waves is as lame as a steaming pile of dog shit.

wooooooowwwww - All I gotta say is wow. I can't believe people in Montreal are still trying to convince themselves that what they are doing at this spot is surfing. I have driven myself crazy watching videos of retards standing in one spot on this fake wave to the soundtrack of Bob Marley's buffalo soldier. At this point rollerblading with your girlfriend is cooler than this. I keep hearing "hey man, it's better than nothing dude, it's a lot of fun, man!" Guys and girls if you really want to surf I will post my number and I will drive you to legitimate surf spots when it's over 2 feet and mushy. Please just give the I surf in Montreal thing a fucking break. P.s.wearing boardshorts and flip flops downtown doesn't mean shit aside from you probably rented a longboard in Florida with your family when you were 15 and the waves were a foot and a half.

I would try it! - River surfing probably does not compare considering your in polutted water in a river in a big city and the ocean is about 2000km away, but montreal is a sweet city with lots of great culture and plenty of beautiful woman and if Im there again and the wave is going I'll try it out for sure.
I ve surfed both coast of Canada in Tofino mostly but have have had two great surf trips to NS. So my question is where is better to live, work, and surf West coast or East coast?

Agree - I agree with the last two comments.

To put a different spin on it though, and respect the effort you guys made, I think this is a new sport - riverboarding maybe? You should probably have a strap-on board to maximize the fun factor - maybe a wake-baord shape. I have also this done with a wake-board style rope tied to a tree used in rivers to keep you in place.

Can be intense if the river is moving fast.

Don't get bummed out that this is not surfing. Get pumped that you discovered a new sport and figure out how to make it better.

Imagine riverboarding in some of the big holes in the Ottawa River!

board recommendation - Get a skateboard and tear up the streets. This spot is a waste of energy.
