English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): The spot is pretty ok for every kind of skill. Just for beginners is a second bay with little waves and a clear beach without rocks where its easy to learn everything.In the main bay its also easy to learn but you must be carefull for the rocks.The main bay can be split in two places to be. One is nearby the Atlantic Playa Hotel where the sea is mostly flat with small till moderate waves and you have the other side nearby medano beach where you can ride the nice and big waves and have the most beautiful jumps.But be carefull because of the rocks!!! There are some places where you have to stay out because of rocks just below the water surface and you will damage your equipement for sure.<br />It's easy to park your car in a very small distance to the spott. There is enough place.
Atmosphère

It's just perfect in many way's with everything around you to get your mental drug on the water and also on the main land. Some nice bars in El Medano village, for example the Cocktail Bar, the hottest bar in town where the serve the most tastfull cocktail wich can make you very drunk.....

Great spot for learning small wave surfing! - I had low expectations of the waves in El Medano before moving here because of the frequent high winds and comments of some sites but having lived here for 5 months now I would say it's almost one of my favourite locations.
There are 2 local spots I like where the waves can easily get to 3-4 ft on some days, like today at the front of the restaurant Flashpoint. The other spot is a reef break that turns left hand into rocksless sand in the 2 ft depth on the left side of the caravan carpark.
The wind can be an issue here but really pumps the wave height. however when the winds are high the windsurfers can dominate by entry/exit the front of Flashpoint and it becomes quite dangerous.
I've almost been hit in the back of the head by windsurfers going too fast and not keeping an eye out on distances, I've seen children nearly hit because some dude wants to go as fast as he can to the sand. But anyway its still possible to have a nice surf in these conditions if you keep to the left small reef and ride in right.
I have surfed here with 6ft-8ft boards but personally prefer the 6ft for maneuvering, speed and getting the large waves. The longest wave ride I have had would easily be 10 seconds.
I have never learned so much in a small time in my life, great place for getting experience on small wave surf.

WindSurf in El Medano - While I'm there (29.01-03.02.2010), I'd love to windsurf.
Any tips? renting a board? or maybe to borrow (let's make a deal).

go to las galletas - Nice spot to body board is Las Galletas in the south of the island, see the spot map. With good south swell the waves can reach hights between 2 and 3 meter in summer.
