 Accès

Nestles is on a remote island called Silva in the northern part of the county. Its only access is by a 35 min boat ride from a surf camp called Morro Negrito. The only way to surf this spot is through this camp, it’s just too remote to get to on your own.

 Informations supplémentaires

Try and be there 2 hours before high tide, find where the rocks are, the water looks so clear it will look like its 2 feet deep but its actually 6 feet deep, so swim down and check the depth.
This wave sucks back a lot where there are rocks, so air drops are common. This wave does barrel and spit, but you need at least an 8 foot wave and you have to take a steep drop to get where it sucks back to find the hollow spot. After you drop it the wave kind of mushes out, and is an easy ride. It’s all about the take off on this waves, it’s a rush.
Also, make sure that if you get caught inside that you paddle at a 90 degree angle to the incoming waves to get to the channel ASAP, don’t try and take the brunt of the waves on the head paddling straight out, you'll get worked, trust me, we have scars to prove it.

Atmosphère

There doesn’t need to be a rotation here at nestles, unlike p-land. Everyone can score waves and the takeoff spots are all over, just DONT GO LEFT, it’s like Stonehenge over there. This is a right only wave for people how are comfortable with a steep drop, there are no rocks to worry about once you are on the wave, just on the take off, try to be to the right of any boils you see, those boils are rocks.
Contrary to the above author, at high tide, the wave can A-frame for a fun snappy left. For the experienced only. I was also taking off 35 yards behind the rock at p-land at dead low tide, super fun section, others just watched.

Général

The spot is great, had the best waves of my life here, just remember be careful on the drop-in and make your bottom turn early or you’ll run out of speed as the waves mushes out. The clean-up sets are sometimes double the average wave size and can catch you off guard, but it’s so worth it, this wave is awesome.

Lives will never be the same - Well our lives will never be the same after spending a week at Morro Negrito. It was an appropriate place to spend Thanksgiving. Everything was
fantastic - really. I can barely stand the thought of a 4/3 wet suit now. Staying up past 8pm is a chore and I keep dreaming about all the magic.
For the critics who went before us my thought is this - if they took issue with the fresh cuisine then they clearly were not laughing enough, surfing
enough and chilling enough. Hats off to Jeff, Dan and Clayton who made the trip awesome and to Ruffy, the best dog EVER!

Re: Morro Negrito - Me and a bunch of my Hawaiian friends went back in 2000 and the campand waves sucked big time. The boat drivers were so hung over they would not wake up to take us out. We had to rally them ourselves. The cooks did not understand how to cook freshly caught fish and over cooked it. Nestles is truly a drop to a mush out. P land has too many rocks. Camp was dirty and lame. I do not know how it is now, but its a mission to get there. Way better spots in other parts of Panama, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. It seems that beginning surfers and longboarders enjoy the camp. You might score a few waves, but certainaly not world class..not even close. Everyone on Kauai knows not to go here if your searching for a good camp experience!!
