Like most surf destinations, wave heights vary seasonally. The most consistent waves are at the Melekeok channel on the eastern side of the island of Babelthuap. For many years this was one of Palau's best kept secrets, mostly due to the fact that travel to the area was difficult and there were only a handful of local surfers (mostly Palauans who picked up the sport living overseas). However, with new roads in place and the national capital now located nearby, the beaches and surfing waves of Melekeok are destined to become more well-known (and crowded).
For the more adventurous wave riders, tow-in surfing has been done on the southwest coast of Peleliu island (26 miles south of Koror) during the winter months when breaks can reach seven meters and run for hundreds of yards.

Kiritimati - We went on a surf trip to Kiritimati earlier this year. Nice place a good waves, although some of teh reefs are pretty sketchy as they all tend to be made up of rock pinnacles and you will have to keep an eye on the rogue shallow ones. Plenty of set-ups, both lefts and rights and a good beachbreak in London. Take all you need as there is only a few surfers and they don't have anything to spare. Wind is offshore all day everyday, just need to wait for the swell. Swell is from the NW Novemeber to April (same storms as Hawaii) and SW to SE swells June to September (same as Fiji), so pretty consistent groundswells. Basic accommodation but nice people. Worth a look for something different. five nights at freddy's game demo
