Heavy - This wave is one of the bowlyest heavy waves on its day has no forgiveness. can also be sick on a dead low smaller tide!

seriously good wave - there are many lame/hoax waves in this area but whakatane heads right hander is a real quality wave. only breaks in cyclone swells and for a short time after local storms. need some balls to paddle across to the lineup when the river is in flood. strong local scene.

Fond memories - Surfed it in 1970's, biggest 8' ,powerful wave bowls up over the reef, good sections, steep drop,what a beauty!
