protected - this beach is normally good on a big south swell when a lot of the other beaches in newcastle are turned into giant washing machines, because it is well protected. relatively protected from wind aswell making it an option on breezy days

pretty awesome - my friend and i once came to blacksmith and were tired of the 4 metre rides on the 1 foot swell and we saw this place up at bit further so we checked it out. When we got there it was 3-4 foot clean sets, some of the fastest barrels i had ever seen, we gave it a go. When you take the drop the wave grows in height so much and it is really steep. one of them took me out and it was the most powerful wave i had ever seen. it just pinned me down all the way to shore. not a very long ride though. Try this place out really helps you learn some new techniques!!!
