English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): Go to Dasi, Honeymoon Bay, and just surf north of it where there is a temple and a freshwater river pouring over rocks, with breakwater jacks forming a mini left point. Climb down the breakwall, time it right jumping off the jacks and don't get pushed back or else... and you can get a clean, fast powered left tube. And wave to the fellas at Matties, Daves, and Freddies place that sits right in front..yeh... Atmosphère
English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): These are the days that Taiwan fed me energy, surfing this wave is heavy. Its a rush and fun. You can get some killer vietnamese food next to the surf shops. and say Hi' to the boyz at the house in front. After a surf you can sit down with the locals at the temple and watch them sputter words out that make no sense and the beetlenut juice will be pouring out of their mouths and enjoy a shot of whiskey to warm up and chill the nerves of the Dock Bay!

Slowman's my hero - Wow, You're the coolest bro. Maybe we could hook up on the beach and you could tell me all about yer moves, and how you get on with locals all over the world over a cup of hot co-co. That would be the greatest. Slowman rules!!

Heavy Locals - Hey, Anonymous, are you sure about the 10 locals ganging up on one tourist? So those smiles I see in the line up are just malevolence waiting to happen later. Gee, thanks for the tip off, after walking through Harlem from 125th Street and through Central Park, East LA, Redfern and other hairy places, I thought I knew all the looks on faces, that I had to beware of. I have looked into many mens eyes, in peace and violence, and I always thought I could see what was in their soul. Guess I was wrong. I think from now on I'll be making pre-emptive strikes. If I see any locals I should just punch them out before they have a chance to make any mischief later? At least in places like Bali and Hawaii, they let you know when you've pissed them off.You know the funny thing is, they also offered me local knowledge about where to surf in different winds and swells. Talk about being taken right in by that friendly act. They even pretended to be interested in where I came from and I reckon there was about 10 of them on the beach around me. Must have been my lucky day and they decided not to beat the shit out of me for some reason. Or maybe you are just full of it.If you can surf decently and behave decently by showing a bit of respect to the locals, you can get on anywhere in the world. That has been my experience even to the point where I have had Hawaiian locals (at Ala Moana) let me and another local go at it without intervention, because he was being a total jackass. He started something and looked to the rest of the line up for support and they all turned their backs. This local glasser learned a little lesson in manners that day.Don't worry the secret of Dog Bay is safe, it hardly ever works, that's protection enough, no one is going to plan a trip there. No one plans surf trips to Taiwan anyway, they are all here for other reasons. Although I was contacted recently by someone interested in organising a documented tour with some pro surfers, don't know whether they are going ahead or not. You'll be happy to know I never mentioned Dog Bay LOL LOL LOLYou blow-ins are all the same, blow in then cling on for a couple of months and you want to protect some place that isn't even yours.

Dog Bay et al - Have to agree with Slowman about the local guys. They're extremely friendly: just appreciate a little give and take, like we all do. As for the infamous Dog Bay, two of us drove to Dashi for the 1st time about two years ago and, not knowing the place, we thought that Dog Bay was Dashi! We got some great thundering lefts, but were very careful to flick off before the star boulders in front of the temple. I've never seen it work since, but it was a very worthwhile session. Have fun...
