New Caledonia tourism - New Caledonia is an absolutely stunning island on the earth and has the largest lagoons in the world, thus making surf breaks only accessible by boat. I want to suggest the Nekweta Surf Camp for the enjoyment. Nekweta Surf Camp is located further north than Ouano. There are two surf camps in New Caledonia both a scenic drive north from la Tontouta international airport. http://www.travelaustralia360.com/angling-in-new-caledonia.html

Temporary Local - Ive been living near Bagasbus beach for the last few months. I hope to see some real swell here for the first time next week the end of SEP 2010! It seems like the typhoon season is about to kick in. The locals think Bagasbas beach is world class! To be real its mostly wind swell or nothing at all. Never more then a handful of kids out and a few locals. Sometimes the weekends see a crowd of kooks turn up. If the swell comes about next week Ill be sure to post a few photos.

I love Bicolanos! - Daet is a great surf spot for beginners. It is not crowded even during the weekends. The locals are very accommodating. Great talents are always shown by its natives. Real surfers rip the waves of Bagasbas Beach. You'd rarely see a poser--probably during the holy week, wherein it could get crowded. Baker is a maniac. It's true, and it's been proven. But I heard that he is actually a good friend--to boys, mind you. Good thing he already went back to Cebu. Anyho, the "surf shack" is for Manilenos. In short, for posers. Go to the surf station if you really want to hang out with true surfers. Mingle with Owen, Onyo, Mariano, Jong, Duque, Mocha, Karen, Bernie, and the likes. Rest assured you'll be very well taken care of. If you get lucky, you could easily spot the "adopted locals" or "former Manilenos"--Jot, Baldo and Junne. I think the three of them already live there. There's also another spot--San Jose--which has a channel, thus easier to paddle into. It's a little far, though. But worth it. Daet is a great practice ground if you really want to be a surfer. It's an 8-hour bus ride from Manila via Philtranco and a 10-hour bus ride via Superlines. It's an adventure that you'll certainly never get tired of.

GMA wants D.O.T. to develop Daet's Bagasbas Beach into a surfing paradise - GMA wants D.O.T. to develop Daet's Bagasbas Beach into a surfing paradise
SATURDAY, JUNE 15, 2002 | TOURISM

DAET, Camarines Norte—President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today directed the Department of Tourism (DOT) to seriously look into the possibility of developing the Bagasbas Beach here as a surfing paradise and a major tourist destination in the country.

In her remarks at the formal opening of "Pinyasan Festival 2002" at Bagasbas Beach here, the President recalled that some 30 years ago, she and First Gentleman lawyer Jose Miguel Arroyo used to surf in Dagupan City, in Pangasinan and in Baler, Quezon

"Daet is a promising place for tourism especially during the surfing season," the President told Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon, who was with her official party.

The President explained that tourism is very important to the national government because with information and communications technology (ICT), tourism will lead in the human resource intensive-skills service sector where the country’s advantages can be found.

The President told the crowd here at the Bagasbas Beach that she and her husband were the ones who introduced surfing in the country some 30 years ago.

Bagasbas Beach, according to the President, provides a good setting for beginners in surfing. Unfortunately, this is not a surfing season but the President assured the people of Daet that she will be back to surf here as part of her efforts to promote eco-tourism in various parts of the archipelago.

"We will look for good opportunity to surf because my husband is already too eager to see if he can still surf after 30 years from the last time we surfed," the President said.

The Chief Executive said Bagasbas Beach provides a good ambience and she was not surprised that the local government of Daet decided to hold this year’s pineapple festival on the beach.

Bagasbas Beach is the most popular beach in the province of Camarines Norte and is also one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

It is haven for swimmers and beach party enthusiasts due to its fine sand and cool waters.

From September to January the waves in the waters off Daet are ideal for surfing neophytes and aficionados. From the shore one can get a panoramic view of the blue Pacific Ocean and offshore islands.
