Atmosphère
English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): Good things about this spot is, the enviorment looks just like 'Ukioe' paintings. Traditional Japanese pines, mountain monkeys runing around, hot spa's every where. But be prepared of the temperature, very very cold durig the winter.

Not Many Get Here - Wife is from Fuchu-Shi on the south side of the main island just on the other side from here. I spotted a local surf shop in town on day while shopping in town and the clerk hooked me up with a few locals who surf there often. Met the boyz in a grocery store parking lot at 1:a.m. and we drove 5 hours in fog through some pretty hairy mountains to get to the Sea of Japan. It was worth the trip, mid-June just after a storm, clean as glass at 6:15 a.m. with steady incoming over-head on a quick left break. The water is deep emerald green with a coarse sand bottom visible in 20+ feet of h2o. The mountain seenery in the background is breath taking and the local chicks ain't bad either. If you like "very fresh" seafood there are some pretty reasonable mom & pops eats around the corner. Definately one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to surf. My wife is Japanese, so the going was pretty easy but,if you don't speak Japanese I'd recommend a guide or surf tour if one is available,if you're ever inclined to go there. The locals were very friendly though curious about round eye's in that part of the world. It's definately a trip you'll allways remember if you're fortunate enough to get there.

Not bad - I am from Matsue-shi, i surfed hakata beach in Tottori on the mid tide. It was a fun peaky wave with powerful sections.
