English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): Sparks only when Taifun Swells hit this point.<br />This spot is the most famous spot in Japan.
Atmosphère
English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): Due to its location close to Tokyo. It gets very crowded on mid-size swells. But when huge swells roll in, it gets less crowded a little bit. A really good left-hander. From time to time professional surfers (not only Japanese) can be spotted here.
Général
English (Traduisez ce texte en Français): Great wave on the right day(a few per year), but localised crowd on those days. Paddleboarders and other locals hog the spot, giving the stink-eye to others who manage to get good waves. So much for the polite image of Japanese. Not true of many of the surfers...big fish in a little pond.

Been There! - Back in the mid 60's we would go to Chiba. It was known to have the best surf in Japan at that time. We were military brats from Yokosuka and Yokohama. The surfers were from Hawaii and California. We love the culture and people and enjoyed the area. Kamakura was also a known surf spot, especially during the sunami.

SURF ON 16 APRIL - Surf was up throughout Kamakura area on 16 April. Most spots had quite a few head high or better waves rolling in although Yuigahama was a little smaller.Like surfing California beach breaks; full wetsuits, kelp, brown water. Actually not to crowded in most locations.

SURFING KAMAKURA - THIS PLACE IS ON WHEN ITS ON AND USUALLY FLAT INBETWEEN. MAKE SURE THERE'S A SOLID SWELL BEFORE MAKING YOUR TRIP HERE, IF YOU WANT TO BE SURE THAT YOU'RE GOING TO SCORE SOME WAVES IT WOULD BE BETTER TO GO TO CHIBA AS THIS AREA IS VERY FICKLE. IT IS THE BEST AREA TO CATCH WAVES IF YOU'RE IN THE AREA AND DON'T WANT TO TRAVEL FAR, THE BEACH FROM KAMAKURA TO CHIGASAKI CAN BE PACKED WHEN THERES A HINT THAT THERES GOING TO BE WAVES SO BE PREPATED TO SHARE.
