There is no channel really, so you should paddle out to the side of the wave over the sand banks to avoid the reef. Ground swells with morning breezes in winter are best, from 2-6ft. Take off deep on the reef pump twice if you have time and keep tight to the face. Lots of blow outs every day. Barrels for about 20-30 metres. Unsurfable on full low tides. When you cut yourself leave the water immediately!
