 Informations supplémentaires

The only problem are the robbers..once, someone stole my shoes...but not so dangerous..no violence, just keep an eye on your things.
Nice wave...very cool, recommend big boards cause waves are very weak..and its difficult to grab a wave if you have a short board or bodyboard. I had a 8´2 and it worked perfect there...

San Onofre style break, with the first break some 300 or more yards out, with a couple more breaks on the way to the beach. Rock beach and parking lot is full of rusty nails, broken glass, etc; booties help. Paddle out through the center, then move left to the breakwater to get the channel outside. The paddle out kills most USA beach break surfers. There are lefts, but falling to the temptation to go left takes you inside where it's impossible to get back out. Simply move south and go back out through the channels.

Atmosphère

Right in town, with parking in front of the break. Crowded in summer (Nov to Apr) otherwise lonely. Very consistent. "No waves" means waist to head high. Closes out on bigger days, for which everyone moves south to Triangulos. Often has a strong current going north, once out past the breakwater. Inside the breakwater, it's the opposite, current takes you south to the pier and breakwater (but never into it - don't worry).

Général

Day dream spot for local surfing club members (3 surfing clubs in front of the break) as they can surf before and after work, or at lunch. Many red tide days, or "Maxi-pad alert" days with trash in the water, but biologically it's safe. Go to www.playasperu.com to check pollution levels.

Costa Verde Closed! - Headed down to the Costa Verde today hoping that I could get in after hearing the news about a foot bridge that had been damaged by a truck last night.  I knew that Almendrez was closed but I was hoping that I could get to Makaha via another rou

Leash broke and board washed into shore - Hit Makaha in the afternoon with a friend.  Constant good sized waves and no rip or chanel made paddling out a real effort.  My friend decided to stay out there looking for good waves and trying to get breathers in between sets... he ended

Chop chop, trash - Went back in the afternoon with a friend.  The waves were much more choppy and the onshore wind was very strong.  The waves seemed to only break when we were paddling out and once we got out there, all we got was crap waves and wind pushing

First time riding a wave all the way! - Went down with a friend and rented him a board.  We both caught our first waves where we were able to stand up all of the way to the shore (10s+).  After catching our first good ones, we managed to catch a lot of lesser rides (4-5s).

- Locals are really friendly people. Only use shortboard when swell is big, otherwise longborad.

makaha is very underated - this wave is awesome but you have to go all the way to the reventa also it is very dicseving because from shore it may seem small and shitty but once there you will see you where totally wrong and it will be walled up. surf it on medium conditions at low tide. at perfect conditions you will se a malibu type wave with ocassional barreels the best thing no crowd. good wave

Makaha awesome beach - makaha is awesome if you go all the way in and there you can get the sick waves
