jetty - surfed some head high barrels at the hole the other day that bar breaks like a mini pipeline droppin in to a foot of water on big swells fun waves and im a local here and have no problem with other surfers from other places just be chill and dont snake and itll be all good

fun spot... - started surfing the south jetty this year on some real fun, medium swells and there crowds... on the most part everyone was really cool and all about havin some fun. jus like any break, youre going to have your handful of high school twerps and tough locals thatll be disrespectful, but for the most part the south jetty crowd was really cool. definately goin to surf there when is good.

fun day.... - surfed the south jetty today and got some real fun rides. very crowded on good days, the rights near the jetty on a longboard are lots of fun when theres a good swell. good surfer talent out there too...

crowds - I still surf here every once in a while when i feel like getting run into or snaked or...not battling the current.It's usually bigger a little south and you have many more waves.

Surf lessons and rentals? - Can kids rent surfboards here and is there a place to get a lesson on a Tuesday? We will be visiting from Las Vegas, NV. and will be there next Tues. (12/28). I would love for my 3 boys to experience surfing if it doesn't cost too much. Thanks, Linda

Locals Rule? - I think its immature to say that Locals rule this break.. I have lived here all 22 years of my life and I am never territorial of the jetty. I think all of you have lost touch with what surfing is really all about. I know im young, but I am more than happy to see people from different areas and different cultures out there in the water. This is how you make friends.

Nov 28 04 - just got back home to bonita... was up at south jetti 7:30 - 1.... fun knee to waist... some bigger sets around chest.... micro barrels! clean and glassy... peeling... it was fun in the morning cuz only 5 or so guys were out, then everyone and their brother/mother f#$%cker showed up, and with the exception of a few snake-ass spiccoli wanna-bes, the vibe was quite mellow, worth the 1 1/2 ride...
