Doesn't break anymore - This place used to fire years ago, pre-2000. Whenever the winds would blow out of the east really hard for days, all of Pensacola beach would be big and blown out but The Point would be offshore and peeling because the way it wraps around so that east and northeast winds are offshore. Caught some really good swells here.

yall are both dumb - There is a jetty. It is on the opposite side of the point. I have lived on Pensacola Beach for close to ten years and lived in the area for all my life and I have only seen pictures of it breaking. You will be lucky to make it out there for a swell, especially since Ivan messed up the roads. You can still get out there and camp but you have to take bikes which is kind of a pain but it's better than walking.

DUDE!?.............. - For one you can only get there by boat now or walk and camp there due to hurricane Ivan tking the road out. Also like the guy below me said there is no jetty and there never has been. Your probably dreaming or thinking of somewhere else. .... Also that bodyboarder. no one cares about what waves you like to surf.

jetties???? theres no jetties - dude i dont no what your talking about daniel holland i know you. you go to my church but anyways dude you gotta be out of your mind i dont even surf but i do bodyboard and thats it i will take all of the locals at bodyboarding dude i dont go for the long lines i go for barrells and to charge and i like wedges and if there was a wedge at the pensacola point then there would be a wedge and you dont no what your talking about there is NO JETTIE!!!!

the point - yeah i live in pensacola. the point is great in the winter and colder months but in the summer you do not want to go because of sharks. the winter surf is still worth it though

Those were the days - Surfed this spot a bunch years ago, but currently doesn't break well. Sand deposited in front of the break prevents swells from breaking along the point near shore. Maybe mother nature will bring back the good old days. Dind't always need hurricane swell. Would also work when strong Easterly winds preceeding cold fronts created large wind swell. After the front would pass, the wind would turn offshore and the place would go nuts for only about a day. Very long rides with barrels wrapping all the way around the end of the island into the bay.

what? - what jetty? i surf pensacola beach and i dont kow of any jetties? please respond im gonna have to check it out if there is a jetty i dont know about

Pensacola Point - Aloha.
Pensacola Point. This is a really good wave for the Gulf Coast. A place that gets a lot better than you would think. Still, I would not want to spend my life waiting for hurricanes in the the Gulf. Nobody can say the locals here are not dedicated. One of the few, probably more like two, places on the Gulf with nicely formed long lines. I surfed this place on a hurricane swell and I couldn't beleive it was the Gulf of Mexico. The winds were offshore and everything. This place also cleans up the onshore wind swells better than anywhere else. The flip side is that a hurricane can completely destroy the sand formations here. One of the funnest, playful, left point beach breaks you will probably never get the chance to surf unless you live in Pensacola.

Good Point - Never have I once had any trouble with locals anywhere on the gulf. All the surfers over here are pretty much melancholy. Its a respect thing I guess that the rest of the surfing world hasn't caught up with yet.

are u kidding locals arent hazards - whoever made the page on the point said that one of the hazards is locals.BS, locals arent a hazard on the gulfcoast .I think its funny as hell when some guys on the gulf act like its their beach.those guys all a bunch of dumbasses.but most gulfcoasters are nice layed back guys who show each other respect.thats why the gulf is one of the best places to surf in terms of the atmosphere and mellowness.so to the very few assholes on the gulf chillout!
