machucas garden - i surfed there in 1967-67 with the hobie team and George Machuca. At the time they considered it there secret spot and we were some of the lucky few who got to surf there. It was hard to get to but the surf was some of the best I've ever seen. Two breaks I remember one was regular beach break but there was a cliff or huge rock that blocked the wind and the waves came around the rock and smoothed out with a great right over shallow reef. The waves up by the rock were smaller but broke like a little right point break. The bottom was general Puerto Rico, coral with lots of sea urchins.

Machucas is heavy - Your car will get broken into. Last time I crossed the river I was sick for a week. If you get hurt, which is very likely crossing the river, you are an hour from medical help and cell phones don't work there. Your only hope is the stray dogs licking your wounds.
