Go to the Lahaina boat harbor and paddle out in front of the break wall. You can enter from the beach next to the marina break wall, or off of the breakwall itself. I have always gone off of the rocks forming the breakwall.Beginners, definately paddle out from the beach.Gettin in on the rocks is kinda tough cause the waves kick u around.

 Informations supplémentaires

This is my home break fir the time being.Easy access -- look for channels to paddle through on big days -- and generally clean. You'll generally end up parking on Front Street. Parking near the West side of the Banyan tree will probably get you ticketed if you spend more than an hour in the water. Don't park in the Harbor lot. You'll get a ticket. Watch out for urchins. They will cause you great pain if you step on them. Therefore, do not walk on the coral. If you're lucky enough not to step on an urchin, the coral can cut you. If you fall off of your board, do the "Nestea Plunge." Fall flat onto the water instead of diving. I've seen a couple of guys come up with huge cuts in their faces from diving into coral. don't be disuaded from surfing there, I've surfed the spot hundreds of times and have never been hurt. After surfing, go to Maui Tacos and grind. enjoy.
A solid left that will hold pretty much any south swell. Good for kooks and beginners when it's small - and all time when gets bigger. If you can deal with all the longboarders it's a lot of fun. Not super hollow but it does have it's sections

Atmosphère

I love this break. There's nothing more peaceful than sitting in the line-up with a couple of bros on a warm day with Beautiful, green Maui inside and Lanai out. When it's great, this place is a kick in the pants. You won't get barrelled, but you will surf clean, fun waves until your arms fall off. I've had nothing but great times. I was vibed once after I blatantly dropped in on a guy. Except for that the only bad experiences were the guys I warned about Vuana (urchins) who thought I was screwing with them...until two guys stepped on them. Poor bastards. Great weather, food and fun. Cheers.
The place can get real crowded and it's not uncommon to see losers fighting n the water. Hit it when it aint crowded and avoid any dramas

Général

I absolutely love it. I've surfed funner waves, but there's just something about everything surrounding breakwall that makes it my favorite.
A must on a large south swell

- Surfed the breakwall. Just paddle out beyond the classes and there are many nice waves to catch and the crowd thins out. There were some locals to deal with, just show some respect, thanks that they are sharing the waves and some aloha spirit an

Local Boys and Big Waves - Maui sure gets ALL the dweebs! "Going Native" anyone?

Straight stuff from a local haole -- Small wave days for surfing don't fly on the radar of Hawaii Locals and the true maniacs from around the world who hang out here to surf real waves. If you ever figure it all out, one day when the South Shore is truly triple overhead, a few guys you've never seen before, or who almost ran you over at Paukakalo or Dumps so you recognize them, will somehow appear, knowing exactly where to park, and begin to SURF, Hawaiian Style, bruddah. Tall Waves, Good Deal.

Breakwall is one of those places, funny thing though, even though it never closes out good luck getting out when its big, if you ever even get the chance.

Rip it Jenks, Snake, etc.
