If you want to stay there several days, you can either rent a hotel room at Jieshi, ask for a guest room anywhere or try "wild camping".
This last option is not clearly legal, so do it at own risk, stay hidden (no fires on day light!) and keep a low profile if people come around.

I surfed in China in 1992 - I was 15 and my dad worked on a nuclear power plant a few hours up the coast from Hong Kong I remember trying to find surf during typhoon season, only surfed once but I will admit that there is potential if you do your homework..........
