Re:is boogie boarding surfing - 2007/12/27 14:55Wow do you people ever get off topic... so back to that surf thing. I longboard and hate crowds, live on Oahu Hawaii, so I often surf smaller choppy breaks to avoid people. I do believe that if you have a piece of foam, sail, paddle, short, long, or even just a body and you are out there in the line up and waiting with proper respects that you must be a reasonable surfer. I have been at breaks with body boarder, SUP's, long and shortboarders and we have all had some pretty great sets. Not everyone can catch the wave of the day, but we can all catch some waves. Don't get me wrong like I said I hate surfing crowds because what I described above is rare, shit just add tourist on there first 10' going straight in the white water wave and you are bound to lose your mind and a few waves. But that same tourist is right where many of us where at some point...their FIRST wave. So why not call it what it is, riding an object that is skimming across the water… otherwise known as surfing. Did I slow it down enough for you, or do you still need to call names?

Re:is boogie boarding surfing - 2008/01/03 21:19you guys are missin the whole point....surfing is fun, no matter which way you do it...Surfing is a term used to describe the action done on a wave. surfing comes from "surf" which describes a wave not a sport....Call it whatever you want but no matter what i'm doing in a wave i like to think of it as surfing...don't get me wrong i'd take a surfboard over a boogie board or anything else any day but as long as your having fun, call it surfing
